The 5 Languages of Love

What’s your Love Language? Here’s a book that’s been passed around the Loveflowers Ladies lately – we'd love to recommend it to our brides and grooms to be!

In “The Five Love Languages” Gary Chapman identifies five love languages:

  • Words of Affirmation  eg: compliments/praise/acknowledgement
  • Quality Time eg: emotional support/moments of kindness/date nights
  • Gifts eg: thoughtful tokens/surprises/a generosity of spirit
  • Acts of Service eg: running errands/baking/fixing things
  • Physical Touch  eg: hugs/back rubs/Special Cuddles

Understanding which love languages are most important to you, and which to your partner can solve a lot of miscommunication, and save a lot of misdirected effort!

It’s a short and simple book, and we can think of plenty of other love languages (why stop at 5?!). However, it’s a great starting point for thinking of how we give and receive expressions of love, and how your FH may have a different primary love language. Some food for thought amongst the seating plans and wedding colours!
